Is it really necessary?

 When you purchase a new vehicle, you expect it to be in immaculate condition but unfortunately this isn't always the case. From rolling out the factory to being in your possession, surface defects (swirls, scratches, holograms, buffer trails, bird etchings etc..) are likely to have been induced.  Before you collect your vehicle it will be prepared at the dealership where potentially unskilled workers will unknowingly create damage with high speed machine polishers. After a few weeks, the polish would have diminished and you will notice the marring and buffer trails that have been inflicted.​You're likely to be offered a protection package from the dealership for your new vehicle, however, these packages aren't always as good as they seem. They're often applied straight over the paintwork with little or no preparation taken place. The only prep work taken place might be a quick wash with poor technique inducing damage to the surface.
